At a glance

  • What it is: house and flat removals across the whole of Bromley, run by a family-run firm with its own trained crews, quoted fixed after a free survey.
  • Typical timeline: a two-bed flat is usually a morning job. A three to four-bed house takes the full day.
  • How pricing works: free survey first, then a fixed written quote. Our published guide ranges give you a ballpark before you book, and the free survey fixes the exact price. A 10% deposit books the date and the balance is due after completion.
  • Coverage: all of Bromley, from the town centre and Beckenham out through Hayes, West Wickham, Orpington, Petts Wood and Chislehurst, plus the rest of South London, run from our Harlow base.
  • Insurance included: £50,000 of goods in transit cover on every move, in the quote as standard.
  • Response time: fill in the form or call 0207 846 0282 and we reply within one working day.
  • Booking lead time: two to three weeks is comfortable for most dates. Book earlier if your street needs a bay suspension, because Bromley asks for at least three working days’ notice.

Bromley is the largest London borough by area, and its housing explains why. Streets of Victorian terraces around Bromley South and the stations at Beckenham and Penge, 1930s semis with their own drives spread across Orpington, Petts Wood and Chislehurst, and the odd country lane between one district and the next. Plenty of homes here have somewhere to put a van, which is more than most boroughs can say. The ones that do not are the streets where a bit of planning earns its keep, which is exactly what our survey is for.

We are Aviv Removals, a family-run firm based in Harlow on the Essex border, and we carry out removals in Bromley and the streets around it every week. Adam, our owner, has been in the trade for more than fifteen years, and every job is run by one trained crew of our own. We do not use subcontractors, so the people who quote your home are the people who turn up on moving day, and everything from the first phone call to the last box follows the same house removals in London method we use across the capital.

Most Bromley removals start with the same simple step: fill in the form or call 0207 846 0282 and book a free guided video survey. We reply within one working day, we come back to you with a fixed written quote, and the price we agree is the price you pay.

What removals in Bromley cost

Most Bromley moves land in these ranges:

Home sizeTypical cost (inc VAT)
2-bedroom£480 - £960
3-bedroom£1,020 - £1,500
4-bedroom£1,500 - £2,100
5-bedroom£2,100 - £3,000

These are guides, not quotes. The accurate figure comes from seeing the move - a video call or WhatsApp walk-through, or an in-person survey for larger homes. The survey is free and the price we agree is fixed before the move. We start at two-bedroom homes - studios and one-bedroom moves are not taken on their own.

We do not publish a fixed price list. Every quote is fixed after a real survey of your home, because a Bromley flat and a Bromley house with the same number of bedrooms can be completely different jobs once you have counted the stairs and checked the drive. What we can tell you is what drives the number up or down:

FactorWhat it does to your quote
Size of the propertyMore rooms means more volume, and volume decides the crew size and the vehicle. A two-bed flat and a four-bed semi need different crews and rarely the same amount of time.
Stairs and accessA loft conversion adds a flight and a turn at the top, a Victorian terrace brings a staircase that turns on every half landing, and a long carry from a rear drive adds minutes to every load. The survey measures every flight, so nothing surprises anyone on the day.
Distance and routeMiles matter, and so does the hour. The A21 through Bromley town centre or the A232 at school-run time costs more of the day than the mileage suggests.
ParkingIf bays need suspending outside your home, the council charges per space, per day. We flag it at survey so it is in the budget, not on an invoice afterwards.
ExtrasPacking, materials, dismantling, storage and appliance moves are all available. Some customers want the full service, some just want the heavy lifting. You choose, and it is priced into the same quote.

The fixed quote covers the whole job: the crew, the van, blankets and straps, insurance for your belongings, and fuel. Floor protection and furniture wrapping are part of how we work on every move, not extras you discover on the invoice.

Payment is straightforward. A 10% deposit at booking secures your date, and the balance is due after the move is complete, once everything is in and you have seen the job done. We take payment by bank transfer, card or cash, and the survey and the quote cost you nothing.

To give you a sense of job shapes rather than numbers we cannot honestly quote from a distance: a two-bed Victorian terrace near Bromley South with a suspended bay outside typically needs a morning crew and one bay held for the morning. A four-bed 1930s semi in Orpington with the loft done, a rear extension and the drive filled with skip-bagged clutter is a different shape of job altogether: bigger crew, larger lorry, no suspension needed at all, and the full day. Your own quote will sit somewhere on that spectrum, and the survey is what places it.

How Bromley removals work

Terrace stairs near the stations, long carries off the drives and the odd country lane between districts are all measured at survey, and where your street needs one, the bay suspension is booked before the lorry arrives.

Parking and access in Bromley

Bromley is lighter on parking controls than most of inner London, and that shows in how moves run here. Plenty of homes have a drive, and a lorry on a drive needs no application to anybody. The streets that do need planning are the terraced roads around the stations and the town centre, where much of the borough closer in sits inside controlled parking zones. On a zoned street a removal lorry cannot legally wait in a resident bay during controlled hours, so the practical answer is a bay suspension: the council reserves the bays outside your home for the day. Reserve two bays, not one. A 7.5 tonne lorry takes up about a bay and a half on its own, and it needs room to work.

Bromley’s charges are simpler than most. A suspension costs £40 per bay per day plus a £30 administration fee, so two bays for a day is £110 in the budget. Applications go through the Bromley permit portal, the council asks for at least three working days’ notice, and one application can cover up to ten bays for up to fourteen days. Two things catch people out. First, the bays have to be clear on the day: the council is not responsible for moving other people’s cars, so a car parked in your suspended bay still needs sorting before the lorry arrives. Second, the suspension is only valid once the council has confirmed it, so a confirmation email is the thing to look for, not the absence of a no. The Bromley Council parking suspensions page lists the current charges and takes the application.

Where your home fronts yellow lines rather than bays, Bromley runs a dispensation instead: permission for a named vehicle to wait on the restriction, from one working day’s notice, based on £40 per vehicle per week. It is the cheaper route for a smaller job, though it does not reserve the space the way a suspension does. And it does not exist on red routes, because the A21 from the M25 down to Bromley Hill and the A232 through to West Wickham are TfL red routes, where stopping is restricted at the best of times and any dispensation has to go to TfL, not the council. For addresses fronting those roads the plan is usually a side-road bay nearby rather than a stop outside the door.

Applying is technically the resident’s job, because the council needs your details and payment. But you do not have to handle it alone. We will point you at the right page, tell you when to apply and roughly what it will cost, and if you would rather not deal with it at all, we help arrange the suspension with Bromley Council (council fee applies).

Not every street needs one, and it is one of the first things we check at survey. If you do not need to pay the council, we will not book one. The building matters as much as the kerb. The mansion flats around Bromley North and Beckenham want moves booked with the management, and the purpose-built blocks around Orpington set their own hours for the service lift, so we check those rules before the day and work to them. The Victorian terraces in the older streets have narrow front doors and turning stairs, and we protect them with floor coverings and doorframe guards on every job. And because the borough is so spread out, the distance between districts is real: a move from Chislehurst to Biggin Hill is a different run to a move from Penge to Beckenham, and the survey prices it as the run it is.

Why choose Aviv Removals

  • 5.0 on Google, across 160+ five-star reviews. That is the rating customers leave, not a claim we make about ourselves.
  • Insurance included as standard. £50,000 of goods in transit cover on every move, in the quote, not bolted on afterwards.
  • Fixed quotes after a real survey. The price we agree is the price you pay.
  • One trained crew, all the way through. No subcontractors, no day labour picked up on the morning.
  • An owner with more than fifteen years in the trade. Adam still runs the crews the way he ran them when he started.

That matters most in a borough this spread out. Our crews work the terraced streets around Bromley South, Beckenham and Penge, the semi-with-a-drive districts of Orpington, Petts Wood and Chislehurst, and the long runs between them on what is a normal week for us, not a one-off challenge. The same crew that surveys your home loads it, drives it and unpacks it.

Man and van in Bromley

Not every Bromley job needs a full crew and a convoy. A two-bed flat turning over between lettings near Bromley town centre. A few pieces of furniture going to family in Orpington. One awkward item that will not fit in the car, let alone up the stairs. That is the work our man and van service exists for in Bromley, and it comes with none of the compromises the phrase usually implies. It is the smaller end of a proper removals company, run to the same standard as our man and van work across London: a trained, uniformed crew who do the lifting, not a driver who supervises.

The pricing works the same way as everything else on this page. We survey the job, quote it fixed, and where the job is genuinely the smaller thing it looks like, the quote sits at the bottom of the guide ranges above. And we will tell you honestly when it is not: a whole flat or a family house needs a bigger crew, more vehicles and a full survey, and pretending it fits one vanload is how moving days go wrong. Describe the job and we will tell you which one it is.

Areas we cover around Bromley

Bromley sits within our wider South London coverage. Within the borough itself we cover the town centre, Bickley and Chislehurst, Beckenham, Elmers End, Penge, Shortlands, Hayes, West Wickham, Keston, Orpington, Petts Wood, St Paul’s Cray and Farnborough, and the streets between them. Wherever you are heading, the same crew takes you from the first door to the last.

Storage and packing in Bromley (if you want them)

If your dates do not line up, your things go from your home into sealed 250 cu ft wooden containers at our own yard. They are loaded once, in front of you, and kept sealed until you want them back, which means nothing is handled in and out of a shared warehouse on the way. Storage in London can be booked as the same job as the move, so one crew collects, stores and redelivers when your new home is ready.

If you would rather not face the boxes at all, our packing service covers everything from the whole house to just the kitchen. Full-house packing means we bring the materials, pack room by room, and everything arrives at the other end labelled by room. Kitchen-only packing suits people who want to handle their own clothes and books but would happily never wrap another plate. Both are optional extras, quoted alongside the move.

Common questions about removals in Bromley

How much do removals in Bromley cost?
It depends on the size of the property, access at both ends, the distance and the parking. A two-bed terrace near Bromley South and a four-bed semi with a loft conversion in Orpington are not the same job, so we do not pretend they share a price. After a free survey you get a fixed written quote that includes the crew, the van, insurance and fuel, with a 10% deposit to book and the balance after completion.
Do you cover all of Bromley?
Yes, the whole borough. Bromley town centre, Bickley, Chislehurst, Beckenham, Elmers End, Penge, Shortlands, Hayes, West Wickham, Orpington, Petts Wood, St Paul's Cray and Farnborough, plus the rest of South London. If your street is in Bromley, we know it and we have almost certainly worked on it.
How far in advance should I book my Bromley move?
Two to three weeks is comfortable for most dates, and earlier for month-end or a summer weekend. If your street needs a bay suspension, build in a bit of time. Bromley asks for at least three working days' notice, but the bays also have to be free of other cars on the day, so we would rather check the street a couple of weeks out than discover a problem the week of the move.
Do I need a parking suspension for a removal van in Bromley?
On some streets, yes. Much of Bromley is suburban and plenty of homes have drives, but the terraced streets around the stations and the town centre sit in controlled parking, and a lorry cannot legally wait in a resident bay during controlled hours. We check your street at survey stage and tell you honestly whether you need one. You can apply to Bromley Council yourself, or we help arrange the suspension with the council (council fee applies).
Can you handle the terraces and the semis alike?
Yes, they are normal work for us. The Victorian terraces near the stations bring narrow front doors and turning stairs, and the semis out towards Orpington and Chislehurst often come with loft conversions and rear extensions that add a flight and a half, which is why the survey counts every flight before you get a price.
What insurance is included?
Every move includes £50,000 of goods in transit cover as standard, in the quote rather than bolted on afterwards. We hold £1,000,000 of public liability cover as well. In practice the better protection is how we work. Floors and doorframes protected first, furniture wrapped before it lifts, and a single trained crew who know where every box is.
Do you offer storage in Bromley?
We do not store within the borough, but your things do not need to stay in Bromley. They go into sealed 250 cu ft wooden containers at our own yard, loaded once in front of you and kept sealed until you want them back. Storage can be booked as the same job as the move, with the same crew collecting and redelivering.
Can I pack my own boxes, or should I use your packing service?
Both work. Plenty of customers pack their own boxes and leave the furniture to us, which suits people who want to spread the packing across a few evenings. If you would rather not, our packing service covers everything from the whole house to just the kitchen, and it is quoted alongside the move so there is one price for the lot.
Do you do man and van jobs in Bromley?
Yes, as the smaller end of a proper removals company rather than a driver with a van. A man and van booking in Bromley gets the same trained, uniformed crew, the same surveyed fixed price and the same insurance as any other move, sitting at the bottom of the guide range when the job is genuinely small. Tell us what the job is and we will tell you honestly whether it needs one van or a full crew.
Do you dismantle and reassemble furniture?
Yes. Beds, wardrobes and tables that need taking apart to leave the building are dismantled on the day and reassembled in the right rooms at the other end. In the loft-converted semis it is often the only way a wardrobe leaves the bedroom, and the survey picks up anything unusually complex so the time is in the fixed quote.
How do I get a quote for my Bromley move?
Fill in the form on this page or call 0207 846 0282. We reply within one working day, book your free survey, usually a guided video call of about twenty minutes, and follow it with a fixed written quote. The survey and the quote are both free and there is no obligation.
Do you cover moves out of Bromley, or out of London altogether?
Both. Bromley removals to another part of London are a normal day for us, and moves out towards Kent, Surrey, Essex and Hertfordshire are regular runs from our Harlow base. We cover the whole of the UK and Europe as well, so if your Bromley move is the first leg of something longer, it is the same crew and the same fixed quote.
