Removals in Greenwich
Family-run removals across Greenwich, from the Georgian streets of the old town and the conservation roads around Blackheath to the semis of Eltham and the riverside towers at Woolwich, quoted accurately after a free survey by our own trained crews.
At a glance
- What it is: house and flat removals across the whole of Greenwich, run by a family-run firm with its own trained crews, quoted accurately after a free survey.
- Typical timeline: a two-bed flat is usually a morning job. A three to four-bed house takes the full day.
- How pricing works: free survey first, then an accurate written quote. Our published guide ranges give you a ballpark before you book, and the free survey fixes the exact price. A 10% deposit books the date and the balance is due after completion.
- Coverage: all of Greenwich, from the old town and Blackheath out through Charlton, Woolwich and Plumstead to Eltham, Kidbrooke, Abbey Wood and Thamesmead, run from our Harlow base.
- Insurance included: £50,000 of goods in transit cover on every move, in the quote as standard.
- Response time: fill in the form or call 0207 846 0282 and we reply within one working day.
- Booking lead time: two to three weeks is comfortable for most dates. Book earlier if your street needs a bay suspension, because Greenwich asks for applications ten working days ahead.
Greenwich rewards the prepared. The Georgian streets around the old town hold tall terraced houses with narrow front doors and stairs that turn on every half landing, the roads that climb the hill beside the park add a gradient to every carry, and the conservation streets around Blackheath keep the same period detail at a bigger scale. Out through Charlton and Plumstead the Victorian terraces run right up to the pavement, the 1930s semis of Eltham and Well Hall have grown lofts and extensions over two generations, and the riverside towers at Woolwich and on the Greenwich Peninsula want lifts booked and loading windows kept. Then add the A2 cutting across the borough and the weekend crowds that fill the narrow streets around the river. None of it is a problem when somebody has measured it in advance, which is exactly what our survey is for.
We are Aviv Removals, a family-run firm based in Harlow on the Essex border, and we carry out removals in Greenwich and the streets around it every week. Adam, our owner, has been in the trade for more than fifteen years, and every job is run by one trained crew of our own. We do not use subcontractors, so the people who quote your home are the people who turn up on moving day, and everything from the first phone call to the last box follows the same house removals in London method we use across the capital.
Most Greenwich removals start with the same simple step: fill in the form or call 0207 846 0282 and book a free guided video survey. We reply within one working day, we come back to you with an accurate written quote, and the price we agree is the price you pay.
What removals in Greenwich cost
Most Greenwich moves land in these ranges:
| Home size | Typical cost (inc VAT) |
|---|---|
| 2-bedroom | £480 - £960 |
| 3-bedroom | £1,020 - £1,500 |
| 4-bedroom | £1,500 - £2,100 |
| 5-bedroom | £2,100 - £3,000 |
These are guides, not quotes. The accurate figure comes from seeing the move - a video call or WhatsApp walk-through, or an in-person survey for larger homes. The survey is free and the price we agree is set before the move. We start at two-bedroom homes - studios and one-bedroom moves are not taken on their own.
We do not publish a set price list. Every quote follows a real survey of your home, because two Greenwich flats with the same number of bedrooms can be completely different jobs once you have counted the stairs. What we can tell you is what drives the number up or down:
| Factor | What it does to your quote |
|---|---|
| Size of the property | More rooms means more volume, and volume decides the crew size and the vehicle. A two-bed flat and a four-bed semi need different crews and rarely the same amount of time. |
| Stairs and access | A Georgian staircase turns at every half landing, a loft conversion adds a flight and a turn at the top, and a booked service lift adds a window. The survey measures every flight, so nothing surprises anyone on the day. |
| Distance and route | Miles matter, and so does the hour. The A2 at school-run time or the traffic that follows an arena night at the O2 costs more of the day than the mileage suggests. |
| Parking | If bays need suspending outside your home, the council charges per space, per day. We flag it at survey so it is in the budget, not on an invoice afterwards. |
| Extras | Packing, materials, dismantling, storage and appliance moves are all available. Some customers want the full service, some just want the heavy lifting. You choose, and it is priced into the same quote. |
The accurate quote covers the whole job: the crew, the van, blankets and straps, insurance for your belongings, and fuel. Floor protection and furniture wrapping are part of how we work on every move, not extras you discover on the invoice.
Payment is straightforward. A 10% deposit at booking secures your date, and the balance is due after the move is complete, once everything is in and you have seen the job done. We take payment by bank transfer, card or cash, and the survey and the quote cost you nothing.
To give you a sense of job shapes rather than numbers we cannot honestly quote from a distance: a two-bed conversion flat in a terraced street near the old town, with a staircase that turns and a suspended bay outside, typically needs a morning crew and one bay held for a few hours. A four-bed 1930s semi in Eltham with the loft done, a rear extension and wardrobes on every landing is a different shape of job altogether: bigger crew, larger lorry, two suspended bays and the full day. Your own quote will sit somewhere on that spectrum, and the survey is what places it.

Two answers get you a ballpark figure, or start a full quote and we will survey the move and fix the price.
Parking and access in Greenwich
Street after street across the borough sits in a Greenwich controlled parking zone, and the operating hours differ from zone to zone. On a controlled street a removal lorry cannot legally wait in a resident bay during controlled hours, so the practical answer is a bay suspension: the council reserves the bays outside your home for the day. Reserve two bays, not one. A 7.5 tonne lorry takes up about a bay and a half on its own, and it needs room to work. Greenwich has a concession worth knowing here: if you are a resident moving house, the second bay is free on the first day of the suspension, so on a standard one-day move the extra bay costs you nothing.
Greenwich charges £66.40 per bay, per day, plus a £66.40 administration fee that is non-refundable. Applications should go in ten working days before the suspension starts. Cancellation wants care as well. You can cancel up to the day before the suspension begins, but the cancellation costs 20% of the charge or £66.40, whichever is more. The Greenwich Council bay suspension page takes the application and lists the current terms.
Applying is technically the resident’s job, because the council needs your details and payment. But you do not have to handle it alone. We will point you at the right page, tell you when to apply and roughly what it will cost, and if you would rather not deal with it at all, we help arrange the suspension with Greenwich Council (council fee applies).
Not every street needs a suspension, and it is one of the first things we check at survey. If you do not need to pay the council, we will not book one. The A2, the A102 southern approach to the Blackwall Tunnel and the A206 along the river are TfL red routes, where stopping is restricted at the best of times, so for addresses fronting them the plan is usually a side-road bay nearby rather than a suspension outside the door.
The street scene matters as much as the kerb. In the old town the streets around the historic riverfront buildings are narrow, busy with visitors at weekends, and protected by the conservation rules that keep them as they are, so the loading plan works around the footfall rather than through it. The roads that climb the hill beside the park add a slope to every carry, and we park to keep the lift uphill of the door where we can. In Charlton and Plumstead the Victorian terraces bring front doors straight onto the street and stairs that turn on every half landing. Out in Eltham and Well Hall it is the extensions that set the job: loft conversions add a flight and a tight turn at the top, and wardrobes that went up in pieces come down the same way. In the riverside towers at Woolwich, on the Greenwich Peninsula and in Kidbrooke Village the concierge books the lift and the loading runs to a window, and we flag all of it at survey so the booking is in your name before move day.
Why choose Aviv Removals
- 5.0 on Google, across 160+ five-star reviews. That is the rating customers leave, not a claim we make about ourselves.
- Insurance included as standard. £50,000 of goods in transit cover on every move, in the quote, not bolted on afterwards.
- Accurate quotes after a real survey. The price we agree is the price you pay.
- One trained crew, all the way through. No subcontractors, no day labour picked up on the morning.
- An owner with more than fifteen years in the trade. Adam still runs the crews the way he ran them when he started.
That matters most in a borough as varied as Greenwich. Our crews work the Georgian streets of the old town and Blackheath, the terraced roads of Charlton and Plumstead, and the riverside towers at Woolwich on what is a normal week for us, not a one-off challenge. The same crew that surveys your home loads it, drives it and unpacks it.
Man and van in Greenwich
Not every Greenwich job needs a full crew and a convoy. A two-bed flat turning over between lettings near Woolwich. A few pieces of furniture going to family in Eltham. One awkward item that will not fit in the car, let alone up the stairs. That is the work our man and van service exists for in Greenwich, and it comes with none of the compromises the phrase usually implies. It is the smaller end of a proper removals company, run to the same standard as our man and van work across London: a trained, uniformed crew who do the lifting, not a driver who supervises.
The pricing works the same way as everything else on this page. We survey the job, quote it accurately, and where the job is genuinely the smaller thing it looks like, the quote sits at the bottom of the guide ranges above. And we will tell you honestly when it is not: a whole flat or a family house needs a bigger crew, more vehicles and a full survey, and pretending it fits one vanload is how moving days go wrong. Describe the job and we will tell you which one it is.

Packing in Greenwich (if you want it)
If you would rather not face the boxes at all, our packing service covers everything from the whole house to just the kitchen. Full-house packing means we bring the materials, pack room by room, and everything arrives at the other end labelled by room. Kitchen-only packing suits people who want to handle their own clothes and books but would happily never wrap another plate. It is an optional extra, quoted alongside the move, and if you would rather do the packing yourself, our guide on how to pack for a house move walks through it room by room.
