Storage in Romford
Sealed container storage for Romford homes, collected from your door, loaded once in front of you and kept at our own yard under 24 hour security and CCTV, with insurance included.
At a glance
- What it is: sealed 250 cu ft wooden containers at our own yard in Harlow, not self-storage lockers. Container storage collected from your Romford door.
- What it costs: £20 + VAT per week per container for stays up to 8 weeks, £15 + VAT per week from 8 weeks onward. Insurance for goods in storage is included.
- How it works: we deliver the container, load it once in front of you, seal it, store it at our yard and redeliver it when you are ready. Collection and redelivery run as one job.
- The access trade-off: no self-access. We bring the container back to you on notice, in whole or in part.
- Coverage: all of Romford, from the town centre and Gidea Park out to Collier Row and Harold Hill, run from our Harlow base.
- Response time: fill in the form or call 0207 846 0282 and we reply within one working day.
If you are looking for a storage unit in Romford that you can drive to and open whenever you like, we will be straight with you: that is self-storage, and we are not it. What we offer is container storage. We collect your things from your door in a sealed 250 cu ft container, store that container at our own yard, and bring it back when you are ready. You never hire a van, and you never carry a sofa down a self-storage corridor. Between a completion date that slips, a chain that will not line up and a rental flat being turned around between tenants, plenty of Romford homes need somewhere for their furniture to sit for a while. For most people in the middle of a move, this is the better fit.
We are Aviv Removals, a family-run firm based in Harlow on the Essex border, and the yard where your container sits is ours, not rented space in someone else’s warehouse. Adam, our owner, has been in the trade for more than fifteen years, and every collection is run by one trained crew of our own, the same crews that carry out storage in London and house removals across the capital every week. In Romford that means we already know which streets have the drive outside the front door and which ones need kerb space booked with the council, how the town centre tightens on market days, and how much difference the long Gidea Park gardens make to the carrying time.
Booking storage is one step: fill in the form or call 0207 846 0282. We confirm how many containers you need and the access at both ends, then you get an accurate written quote, and the price we agree is the price you pay.
What storage in Romford costs
Our rates are published and simple. Pricing is per 250 cu ft container, per week:
| How long you store | Rate per 250 cu ft container |
|---|---|
| Up to 8 weeks | £20 + VAT per week |
| From 8 weeks | £15 + VAT per week |
Add VAT and the rates come to £24 and £18 a week. One rate covers one sealed container for one week, loaded by our crew at your address and stored at our own yard under 24 hour security and CCTV. There is a quirk worth knowing before you book a shorter stay to be safe: the tier covers the whole stay, so a container that stays eight weeks costs £120 + VAT in total while the same container for seven weeks costs £140 + VAT. Crossing the eight week line costs less than stopping a week earlier.
The exact total comes from the survey rather than a guess over the phone. Two Romford homes with the same number of bedrooms can fill a different number of containers, and a town-centre terrace with no drive takes longer to load than a semi with the van parked on the front garden. The survey captures the container count and the access before you commit, which is why the quote we agree is the price you pay. If the storage is riding alongside a move rather than standing on its own, the move itself is quoted from our published removals guide ranges, which start at two-bedroom homes.
What moves the total up or down:
| Factor | What it does to your storage quote |
|---|---|
| Volume | The biggest factor. The container count decides most of the total, and the survey counts it honestly rather than guessing low to win the booking. |
| Length of stay | The tier your whole stay lands on. Cross eight weeks and the weekly rate drops from £20 + VAT to £15 + VAT, backdated to week one. |
| Access at both ends | Stairs, kerb space and carrying distance at your address change the loading time. The survey prices that in before you sign anything. |
| Packing | Professional wrapping and packing is available for items going into storage. It costs more than self-packing but loads the container denser, which can save a whole container. |
| Timing with a move | Booked together, the storage rides the same job as the removal: one crew, one invoice, nothing handled twice. |
Payment is straightforward. A 10% deposit at booking secures your collection date, and the balance is due after the job is complete. We take payment by bank transfer, card or cash, and the survey and the quote cost you nothing.

Parking and access on collection day
Romford is the easiest collection in London until it is not. A good share of Romford homes have a drive or a front garden to park on, and where that is the case the kerb question never comes up: the lorry pulls up outside and the only planning is the loading order. Havering’s controlled parking zones cluster around the town centre and the station approaches, and on a zoned street a collection lorry cannot legally wait in a resident bay, so where there is no drive the practical answer is a parking dispensation. Havering runs the scheme for exactly this, removals and deliveries, through its online permit system, and it covers resident bays, pay and display bays and single yellow lines. Build in at least five working days. The permit allows the parking without reserving a particular bay, so where the address sits deep in the town centre we aim the collection at the morning rather than the middle of the day.
The Havering parking dispensation application is taken online through the council’s permit system. Applying is technically the resident’s job, but you do not have to handle it alone: we tell you at survey whether your street needs one, and if you would rather not deal with it at all, we help arrange the dispensation with Havering Council (council fee applies).
For jobs that need bays physically suspended rather than simply permitted, which is rare in Romford but not unknown on the narrower town-centre streets, Havering operates a separate suspension process, and that one is aimed at utility and street works companies rather than households, so the dispensation is the route a removal collection takes. One thing Havering does not control from the town hall: the TfL red routes. The A12 and Eastern Avenue corridors carry them, and stopping there is restricted at the best of times, so on those streets the plan is usually a side-road bay nearby rather than anything outside the door.
Not every street needs help from the council, and it is one of the first things we check at survey. If you do not need to pay the council, we will not book anything.
The building matters as much as the kerb. The Thirties and Fifties semis of Collier Row, Harold Hill and Rise Park often carry a loft conversion with a steep, tight-turning staircase, and the survey has already measured those turns before the container arrives, so the loading is planned rather than improvised. The Gidea Park conservation streets have long gardens, conservation rules and neighbours who notice, so we protect lawns and driveways with runners and agree the van position in advance. Around the town centre, Saturday market day and the queues for the brewery’s events choke the streets from early morning, so for addresses in the middle we will usually suggest a weekday, or at least a load time that beats the crowds.
The full neighbourhood rundown, from dispensations to the red routes, is on our removals in Romford page, and the same access knowledge runs the storage collection.
Why choose Aviv for storage in Romford
- Our own yard, not a broker’s arrangement. Most removal companies that offer storage hand your goods to a third-party warehouse. We do not. The container stays at our facility in our custody, start to finish.
- Loaded once, sealed in front of you. Nothing is decanted into a shared aisle or stacked under a stranger’s sofa. The seal does the security until the day we bring it back.
- Insurance included. Insurance for goods in storage is in the price rather than sold as an add-on at the end.
- One trained crew, all the way through. The crew that loads your container is the crew that returns it. No subcontractors.
- 5.0 on Google, across 160+ five-star reviews. That is the rating customers leave, not a claim we make about ourselves.
This is the same container storage in London service we run across the city.
One load, one seal, one company accountable from the first box to the last. That is the whole product.
Areas we cover from Romford
Romford sits inside our wider East London coverage. Within the town we collect from the town centre and the streets around the market, Gidea Park, Collier Row, Rise Park, Chase Cross, Harold Hill and Harold Wood, and the streets between them, plus the villages out towards Havering-atte-Bower. The containers run between your door and our Harlow yard, so the storage follows the same routes our removal lorries already travel every week.

Storage plus the move, and the packing
Most Romford storage starts with a move rather than a unit, and that is where using a removal company pays. Booked together, the collection and the removal are one job: the same crew wraps your furniture, loads what is coming with you onto the van and what is not into sealed containers, and the redelivery is coordinated with your actual move-in. Our removals with storage in London page covers the combined booking, which is usually cheaper than two separate ones, and there is one company to call when anything needs sorting.
If you would rather not face the boxes at all, our packing service covers everything from the whole house to just the kitchen, and professional wrapping is available for items going into storage, which loads the container denser and can save a container’s worth of weekly rate. Both are quoted alongside the job, so there is one price for the lot.
