Not everyone needs to store the contents of an entire home. Some customers have specific pieces that need to go away for a few weeks or a few months, while the rest of life carries on as normal. Furniture-only storage is a lighter version of our container storage. The facility is the same, the security is the same, and the collection and redelivery service is the same. But the job is smaller, the loading is faster, and you are not paying for space you are not using.

How furniture storage works

The survey

Tell us the pieces, roughly, and we confirm they fit the loading plan, along with the access at both ends. A sofa, a dining table and a few boxes is a different job from a houseful of wardrobes, and the quote reflects it.

Wrapping and loading

On collection day our crew wraps each piece. Sofas are padded and covered, tables protected at the legs and corners, mattresses get full covers. Everything is loaded in the right order, padded against movement, and the container is sealed.

In our yard

Your furniture sits in the sealed container at our own yard, under 24 hour security and CCTV, for as long as you need. The container is not opened and your pieces are not touched.

Return and reassembly

We bring the furniture back on the agreed date, unload it, and place each piece in the right room. Anything we dismantled for storage goes back together.

The quote is fixed before anything moves. If you have a dedicated container, the price covers the full container; if your load shares container space, the price reflects the volume. A 10% deposit at booking secures your collection date, the balance is due after the job is complete, and we take payment by bank transfer, card or cash. Your furniture travels under our goods in transit cover of £50,000, backed by £1,000,000 of public liability cover, and insurance for goods in storage is included in the storage price. What pieces work best for furniture storage

We store the full range of domestic furniture. The most common items in our furniture storage bookings are:

The typical furniture storage customer is not moving the rest of their home at the same time. They are in one of these situations:

Selling a property that needs to be staged or decluttered. The furniture is removed for viewings and stored until the sale completes, then returned to the new property.

A self-storage unit

You get the sofa down the stairs, into a hired van, along a corridor and into the unit, then reverse the whole thing when it comes back. Doable for one or two pieces, but the lifting risk sits with you and the sofa does not stay wrapped.

Best for: a couple of sturdy items you can move yourself.

Leaving it in the empty property

Furniture left in a vacant flat avoids the transport, but nobody is watching it, insurers take a dim view of unoccupied properties, and viewers walk past it while the sale is on. One leaky window or one broken-in door changes the maths.

Best for: very short gaps in a property you still occupy.

Can I store individual pieces of furniture, or do I need a full container?

You can store individual pieces. If the volume is less than a full container, your furniture shares the container with other furniture-only loads, with each customer's items separated by protective wrapping and clearly labelled. If you prefer a dedicated container, that is also available and quoted separately.

How is my furniture protected in storage?

Every piece is wrapped before loading. Sofas and mattresses get padded and covered. Tables and desks are wrapped at the legs and surfaces. Wardrobes and drawers are emptied, with the doors secured. The container interior is lined and items are padded against each other so nothing shifts during transport.

Do you dismantle furniture before storing it?

Yes. We dismantle beds, extendable tables, wardrobes that come apart, and any flat pack item that was originally assembled. The fixings are labelled and stored with the piece so reassembly is straightforward. You do not need to pre-dismantle anything.

How long does furniture storage take to arrange?

From first contact to loading is usually a matter of days. For a straightforward furniture-only storage job we survey the items, quote the price, and schedule the collection, often within the same week. Longer notice helps secure a specific date.

Do you store sofas and mattresses that are hard to get through doorways?
